NSP's High Definition Technology construction redefines the boundaries of the laws of surfboard production. Now, it is possible to have a board that is incredibly
tough, light weight and high performance at an affordable price.
Created specifically for our Shapers Union range, HDT pairs high performance design with precision molding technology ensuring accurate reproduction and dynamic
flex characteristics. HDT uses a model specific, fully fused and water resistant SecureCell EPS Core, military grade fibreglass and foaming epoxy resin moulded in our
high tech vacuum moulds creating 30% less material wastage and environmental impact of a traditional surfboard.
HDT also creates an exceptionally durable shell that offers unmatched strength and lightweight performance with 50% higher breakage strength at lower weights
than PU.
A few weeks before in purchased the 9'8'' Sleepwalker I was in Sri Lanka and hired a 9'6'' for about eight days. The board in Sri Lanka. The 9'6'' was 83.7 litres and weighed next to nothing at 6.5kg.
That board was an absolute buoyancy machine for a tall bloke like me at just under 100kgs in weight.
The board picked up waves really well, was extremely loose and a joy to ride.
Prior to riding this board, all my boards were hand shaped and glassed - this board really changed my thinking about mass produced epoxy boards. As soon as I came back home I wanted to buy one and did so.
I went another two inches in length which gave me another 2.1 litres of buoyancy and a negligible increase in weight. The 9'8'' is has the same feel as the board I had in Sri Lanka and after a week down the south coast - rides extremely well.
The chine rails on the bottom combined with the subtle teardrop concave in the nose makes it extremely easy to catch waves and it wants to drive forward. The lightness of the board makes it very easy to 'throw around' on a decent wave and, it nose rides really well.
I'm looking forward to taking it up to Noosa in a couple of weeks and mix it up with my other two hand shaped boards.
I can't fault the design by Tully St John from Laguna Bay Longboards and might even look him up whilst I'm up there and thank him for the design.
A great log style board minus the weight!
